AI voice agents and AI receptionists

AI receptionists and phone agents that answer every call, book appointments, qualify leads, and hand over to a person, wired into the systems you already use.

  • Scoped per project
  • UK based
  • Founder-led delivery

An AI voice agent answers your phone, understands what the caller wants in plain speech, and does something about it: books the appointment, takes the details, answers the question, or puts the caller through to the right person.

We build these for businesses that miss calls. A missed call to a small business is usually a lost customer, because the caller rings the next name on the list. An agent that picks up every call, at 7am, at lunchtime, and on a Sunday, recovers that work without hiring a night shift.

We are an engineering studio rather than a reseller. The agent runs on accounts you own, connects to your diary, CRM, or booking system properly, and is tested against real calls before it goes live.

Included

What you get

Every engagement includes all of this. None of it turns up later as an extra.

01

Every call answered, day and night

Inbound calls handled in natural speech, around the clock, with no hold music and no menu of numbered options. Busy periods stop meaning lost calls.

02

Bookings straight into your diary

The agent checks real availability and books, moves, or cancels appointments in the calendar or booking system you already run, then confirms by text or email.

03

Lead capture and qualification

It asks the questions your best receptionist would ask, records the answers in your CRM or inbox, and flags the calls worth a person ringing back today.

04

A clean handover to a person

When a caller needs a human, is upset, or asks something the agent should not answer, it transfers the call or takes a message with a summary, so nobody has to repeat themselves.

05

Reminders and follow-up calls

Outbound calls to people who expect to hear from you: appointment reminders, confirmations, missed-call callbacks, and simple follow-ups, within UK calling rules.

06

Transcripts, summaries, and monitoring

Every call is transcribed and summarised. You can see what callers asked, where the agent struggled, and what it should learn next, instead of guessing.

In detail

How we approach it

What an AI call centre actually does

Strip away the marketing and a voice agent is four parts working together: a phone number, speech recognition that turns the caller's words into text, a language model that decides what to say and do, and a synthetic voice that speaks the reply. The quality of the whole thing depends on how fast those parts hand over to each other and on what the agent is allowed to do in your systems.

The part that earns its keep is the last one. An agent that can only chat is a novelty. An agent that can check your diary, book a slot, look up an order, or log a lead is doing a job someone used to do by hand.

Off-the-shelf subscription or a custom build?

Be honest with yourself about which you need. As of October 2026, ready-made AI receptionist subscriptions in the UK start at roughly £20 to £100 a month and are perfectly good at answering, taking a message, and sending it to your inbox. If that is the whole job, buy one. We will tell you so on the first call.

A custom build is worth it when the agent has to work with your systems: real availability from your booking software, records in your CRM, order lookups, routing rules that depend on who is calling, or call volumes where per-call subscription pricing gets expensive. That is the work we do.

How we are different from most AI voice agencies

  • You own it. The phone number, the model provider account, the call recordings, and the code sit in your accounts, not inside an agency's white-label platform you rent back.
  • It is engineered, not configured. Integrations are written and tested properly, with error handling for when your booking system is slow or a model provider has an outage.
  • It is measured. We test the agent against a set of real call scenarios before launch and keep testing after, so changes are judged on results rather than on how a demo felt.
  • We tell you when not to bother. If a cheaper subscription or a better web booking form solves the problem, that is our recommendation.

What makes a voice agent sound good or bad

Callers forgive a synthetic voice. They do not forgive a pause. The gap between the caller finishing a sentence and the agent replying is the single biggest factor in whether a call feels natural, so we design for low latency from the start: streaming speech recognition, fast models for the conversational turns, and slower, smarter models only where the agent needs to think.

The other details matter too: letting callers interrupt, handling UK accents and place names, spelling back postcodes and email addresses, and knowing when to stop talking and transfer the call.

Doing it properly in the UK

Callers should know they are speaking to an AI, and we build that into the greeting. Calls that are recorded or transcribed need a notice and a lawful basis under UK GDPR, a retention period, and a sensible answer to a caller who asks for their data to be deleted.

Outbound calling is regulated much more tightly than inbound. Automated calls to people who have not agreed to them are where AI calling goes wrong, so we build outbound for reminders, confirmations, and follow-ups to people who expect to hear from you, not for cold calling lists.

What it costs to run

Running costs are usage based: telephony, speech recognition, the language model, and the synthetic voice, all charged per minute of conversation. You pay those providers directly on your own accounts, with spend caps set. We give you an estimated monthly running cost for your call volume before we build, alongside a fixed price for the build itself.

Process

How it runs

Four steps from first call to launch. No surprises, no disappearing acts.

01

Call

One focused call to understand what you need, who it is for, and what success looks like. You leave with a clear, written scope and a proposal.

02

Prototype

You are clicking through a working prototype with most of the core features live, early in the project. Real screens in the browser, not static mockups.

03

Refine

We shape the prototype into the finished product, folding in every amendment you ask for. Nothing ships until you have confirmed the final build.

04

Deploy

We take it live on the hosting provider and domain of your choosing, fully wired up, and stay close after launch to keep it running smoothly.

FAQ

AI Voice Agents questions

Will callers know they are talking to an AI?

Yes. We recommend the agent says so in its greeting, and we build it that way by default. Callers are far more patient with an AI that is upfront about what it is, and it keeps you on the right side of UK expectations on transparency.

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. The simplest route is forwarding: your number stays where it is and calls you do not answer, or calls out of hours, divert to the agent. You can also port the number or use a new one for a specific line.

What happens when the agent does not know the answer?

It says so, then transfers the call to a person or takes a message with a written summary, depending on the time and the rules you set. It is designed to hand over early rather than guess, because a confident wrong answer costs more than a transfer.

Can it book appointments into our existing system?

Usually, yes. If your calendar or booking software has an API, the agent can read real availability and book directly. That integration is most of the value and most of what separates a custom build from a subscription product. We check your system on the first call.

How long does it take to build?

You can phone a working prototype early in the project, usually within days of the first call. A focused inbound agent for one business line goes live after testing against real call scenarios. Larger set-ups with several integrations or outbound calling are scoped individually.

How much does an AI voice agent cost?

Two parts. A fixed price for the build, agreed after the first call once we know what the agent needs to connect to. Then usage-based running costs per minute of conversation, paid directly to the providers on your accounts. We estimate the running cost for your call volume before you commit to anything.

Can it use our own voice or a specific voice?

Yes. The agent can use a stock voice, or a custom voice cloned from a real person with their documented consent. See our voice cloning service for how that works.
